We are looking for an experienced data engineer to join us in Asset Management IT. The ideal candidate has the depth and breadth of expertise to deliver use-cases for our internal Asset Management clients on data platforms in an investment analytics and reporting context.
What will be your key responsibilities:
As Data Engineer, you would:
- Maintain and enhance Oracle PL/SQL packages and database objects of a large-scale data platform that provides investment analytics including risk, P&L, attribution, and market data
- Provide production support on a rotation basis for batch data processing with complex dependencies orchestrated in UC4
- Use a suite of productivity tools and platforms such as JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps, ServiceNOW, etc.
- Work directly with business users to test and deliver quality solutions that meet the acceptance criteria for use-cases
- Use creative design thinking in collaboration with other data engineers to build solutions
- Apply problem solving skills to get to the heart of the matter
- We are undergoing a Tech Transformation in which we are migrating all of our data, analytics and reporting applications to the public cloud.
- As a result, the transactional data warehouse will migrate from Oracle to Postgres in the next two years.
- Our strategy is to leverage the new platforms as early as possible so you would gradually start to work with both and ultimately focus primarily on the new platform.
About the team
- With more than USD 150 bn of assets under management, Swiss Re Asset Management is responsible for the management of assets generated through the core insurance and reinsurance business.
- Asset Management IT is organized into three product areas with several squads within each.
- Our Risk Budgeting and Reporting squad belongs to the Investment Management product area. We practice Scrum.

Essentials:
- University degree in computer science or a technical field
- Expert proficiency in enterprise-grade relational databases such as Oracle
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to work with demanding clients and challenging timelines
- Innovative, driven, and collaborative in nature
Ideal:
- Understanding of financial securities, risk, P&L and financial reporting
- Scrum practitioner
- Experience with Postgres
- Experience with Azure
- Experience with Azure DevOps
- Experience with Python
- Experience with Palantir Foundry
